Polymer composites can be divided into two categories: polymer structure composites and polymer functional composites. The former is dominant. Polymer structure composite materials include two components: ① reinforcing agent. It is a fabric with high strength, high modulus and temperature resistance, such as glass fiber, silicon nitride whisker, boron fiber and above. ② base material. It is mainly the adhesive that plays the role of adhesion, such as unsaturated polyester resin, epoxy resin, phenolic resin, polyimide and other thermosetting resins, styrene, polypropylene and other thermoplastic resins. The specific strength and specific modulus of this composite are higher than that of metal, and it is an indispensable material for national defense and cutting-edge technology. Polymer functional composites are also composed of resin matrix materials and materials with some special functions, such as some conductive, semiconductive, magnetic, luminous, piezoelectric and other materials, which are compounded with adhesives, so that they have new functions. For example, the magnetic sealing strip of refrigerator is this kind of composite material.
